Bulletins, field notebooks, and early photographs preserved online
According to Melissa McLimans, UW Digital Collections librarian, “The relationship that has developed between the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey and the UW Digital Collections has benefited both of us. The notebooks of Charles Van Hise and the early images of the Survey are historical scientific gems. Working together we have been able to preserve them and at the same time make them accessible. The audience for these volumes and images is diverse, from Wisconsin history enthusiasts to geologists and scholars of environmental history, and the digital projects have allowed us to reach more and more people.”
